Cultural-Humanitarian Fund "Sukhumi”

   

Trainers of Fund «Sukhumi» visited IDPs residing in the town of Zestafoni with the two-day programme. Unlike other trainings, the training on accommodation was complicated. At the very beginning of the training participants expressed their negative attitude, which they explained as the following - “Mistrust towards the government and non-governmental organizations is so strong that we do not believe and don’t hope that our situation will ever improve». In addition, they are in an information vacuum, due to which there is felt tension and aggression among the population.
At the end of the training participants had many questions with regard to accommodation: Who will protect their rights? Who cares about their security? Whether they will be forcibly resettled? After consultations with a lawyer, participants expressed their readiness to engage actively in the accommodation programme and use the skills of advocating problems obtained at the training in practice.
Training on the same topic was held in parallel in Kutaisi and covered a number of collective centers.
