A regular training – “Women's rights - human rights” was held in the town of Senaki with the participation of the representatives of the local self-government, educators of Kindergartens, teachers, representatives of the Center of Culture, and IDPs from Abkhazia. Interesting discussions were held on the issues: Family - as a social institution, interpersonal relationships within the family, redistributions of responsibilities, family conflict - its causes and actors. Is a large family traditional for the regions, and what is its model? Women from Senaki do not dispute that the model of the family in regions is patriarchal and that the main role belongs to a man. There was carried the group work on the topic: Family Models: “Dominant and subordinate” and “Equality” which was difficult for the participants. During the presentation, the group which drew a family with a dominant role of women admitted that they had difficulties, because it’s a non-traditional model, and that in their opinion there are very few such families. Hot debate was provoked by the phrase of one of the participants – “l shall get married and sit at home”, while others sad that it would soon become boring for her.
The third day of the training was very important and interesting for the participants, since it included consultations with a lawyer and a psychologist. |
