With the purpose of raising and developing the level of staff’s skills fund “Sukhumi” organized a three-day workshop in Kobuleti which was hold be the representatives of women's organizations from Israel: Rita Chaikin (organization Isha L'Isha - Haifa Feminist Centre) and Olga Medvedovskaya (organization Itach - Women Lawyers for Social Justice). Members of the fund “Sukhumi” listened with interest to the information about the activities of the organizations that actively protect women’s rights in Israel. There were considered many interesting issues: feminism (radical and liberal), the UN Resolution 1325, women’s solidarity, peculiarities of the country with long-term conflict, where women are called for military service and where trafficking - has turned into a kind of business. - How far are women’s rights protected in Israel? How does society perceive the violence? How is the law implemented? What is the attitude of the State to this problem? Obtaining answers to those questions, we draw a parallel, how we work on the solution of a specific problem and how effective our work is. - It was interesting to learn that there are shelters in Israel, and not only for women-victims of violence but also for men aggressors, where they undergo a four-month rehabilitation. - The information about the effectiveness of the law was important. Our stereotypes and attitudes impede the implementation of the law. - Role exercises were very interesting. They made us understand that when we offer someone assistance, it is important to know whether we help in the way they want it. These words were told at the conclusion of the workshop. All participants of the workshop mentioned that they will necessarily use the information obtained in their daily work. - Sharing of experience with you is important and interesting for us too. We have a lot of common problems. We work with the same objective - supporting women, protecting of their rights, achieving of equality, - said Rita Chaikin. - You do great work in lives of individuals and the country. I think that everyone who had already got in touch with you, changed something in their life, - Olga Medvedovskaya. The training has completed, but the work continues. The experience shared by the women from Israel will make a lot of positive changes in the further activity of Fund “Sukhumi”.
