
Within the framework of the exchange program from 28 to 29 of July, representatives of the fund “Sukhumi” (Project Assistant - Tea Goletiani, a journalist of fund “Sukhumi” - Eka Tvildiani, members of the Club of Women-Voters - Mtvarisa Sakheishvili, Manana Nachkebia, Eter Diasamidze, Ilona Serova) stayed in Armenia, the city of Vanadzor. With the assistance of the partner organizations “Peace Dialogue” representatives of Fund “Sukhumi” met with their Armenian colleagues: a representative of the local self-government Gayane Qalantaryan, heads of administration of Lori region villages: Susanna Arutyunyan, Valentina Karkhanadjeva, Games Shaxbazyn, a Secretary of the city administration Garik Simonyan, representatives of international organization “Women with University Education” - Margarita Shahverdyan and Sofia Babayan, a head of the NGO “Intelligent women” Nina Jaghinyan. The project assistant Tea Goletiani told the participants of the meeting about the gender situation in Georgia, about women’s representation in the local self-government, as well as about the activity of the Club of Women-Voters of Fund “Sukhumi”. A lively debate was hold on the issues: whether there is a need of women’s representation in the local self-government and in parliament, whether woman is able to change the existing political, social and economic situation, and that is the reason for their passivity in politics. According to participants, the exchange program was useful and important to them in terms of sharing information and experiences.
