Cultural-Humanitarian Fund "Sukhumi”

With the support of women's Swedish organisation Kvinna till Kvinna in October 1-4 there was held the meeting of the representatives of Fund “Sukhumi” (Kutaisi) and Association of Women of Abkhazia (Sukhumi) in the capital of Belarus, Minsk.

Georgian and Abkhaz women shared their information about activities within the framework of the joint project “Promotion of gender equality”.

Representatives of both parties mentioned that their work with women and young women is fruitful. They carry out trainings, meetings, exhibitions, contests. There are issued informational journals. All measures are aimed at the promotion of women’s role in politics and peacemaking activity.

During the meeting special attention was paid to the elaboration of the common plan for the future project.

The meeting was held in business like and constructive atmosphere. There were defined perspectives for future cooperation, - this was the evaluation of the meeting by the Co-chairperson of Fund “Sukhumi” Meri Gelashvili.

Georgian and Abkhaz women hope that such meetings within the framework of the project will be arranged in the future too and will contribute to increasing of the level of confidence between parties and strengthening of relations.
