Cultural-Humanitarian Fund "Sukhumi”

By the initiative of Fund "Sukhumi” there was carried out the survey among women-members of parties of central offices in Tbilisi. The main objective of the survey was to define the situation of women in political parties. The main attention in the questionnaires was paid to such issues as number of women in parties, how far women are given chance to hold leading posts in parties, how election lists are defined, and which approach exists in regard to the quota system in parties, how far programmes of parties regard women’s problems, what are strategies of parties for winning votes of women’s electorate and etc. It should be noted that during the meetings participants of the survey talked about those problems and barriers which they face while coming to politics. They emphasized close cooperation of political parties and non-governmental organizations aimed at supporting of women’s advancement in politics and mobilization of women’s electorate. Analysis of the survey showed that parties do not welcome quoting of election lists. They consider priority such skills as professionalism, authority, competitiveness, individual efforts etc.
