-  Importance of women’s national non-governmental organizations; motivation, why women should be actively involved in politics; how should be increased the level of political activeness and role of women in society; elaboration of effective forms and methods on increasing of women’s political activeness; experience of other countries, utilization of the UN Resolution 1325 – these issues were considered at the three-day training organized by Fund “Sukhumi” in Borjomi on the topic “Women in social-political activity and promotion of gender equality”.

In the training participated 18 active women-leaders from four regions of Western Georgia: Imereti, Guria, Samegrelo and Adjara. It wasconducted within the framework of the project “Promotion of gender equality”.

The group of trainers was presented by Alla Gamakharia (Chairperson of Fund “Sukhumi”), Meri Gelashvili (Project Coordinator, Fund “Sukhumi”), Jemal Gamakharia (historian, professor), and Charlotte Sjostrom (member of the European Union Monitoring Mission).

- The format of the training was very interesting for me, practice and theory was balanced. I’ve convinced that we – women can fulfill society’s order, can change the situation for the better if we come to politics, - Maka Khetsuriani (Kutaisi, Association “Women for the development of regions”).

- We obtained very useful information which is important for potential candidates as well as for common voters. Political education in this direction in necessary for everyone. Such trainings will give an incentive to many women to actively involve in politics, - Ketevan Kadieshvili (Ozurgeti, teacher).

Participants mentioned that such trainings will promote to inclusion of women in social-political activity and increasing of the number of women –candidates in the local self-governmental elections.
