Women’s Support Centre was opened in Khoni

On September 7 in the school # 4 of Khoni there was opened Women’s Support Centre by Fund “Sukhumi” and Fund of Women-Entrepreneurs. The opening was attended by teachers and pupils, journalists, and a representative of the donor organization Kvinna till Kvinna, coordinator of projects in Georgia, Annika Karlsson.
Chairperson of Fund “Sukhumi” Alla Gamakharia told about the basic functions of the centre. “It will be the first Support Centre in the region. We want to help women, young women. They will have possibility to get legal consultation on different issues, talk to psychologist. There will be working an experienced doctor-gynecologist who will provide women with information about reproductive health.
Chairperson of Fund of Women-Entrepreneurs Meri Gelashvili added that in this centre there will be held computer classes for young women and they will also have possibility to learn sewing other professional skills.
Director of the school Maia Janelidze thinks that the centre will render important help to women and young women since in regions women have little possibility to get such kind of support.
